Hi everyone,
This post will wrap up our blog — Following James’s Heart. Feel free to leave a note — then going forward, just connect with us the way you usually did before all this excitement.
We’re back home now and have just checked in with the local cardiologist who will monitor James’s progress. A unique aspect of the short drive to his office was my being in the front seat at the wheel, with James riding in the back – because of the danger of the airbags. He tried his best to limit his critique and suggestions. At the appointment, the doctor went over the medications and aftercare suggestions, and he made the anticipated referral to the cardiac rehab program.
We’re not sure yet when this will begin but it will involve three sessions each week for 16 weeks. This ought to get James shipshape in time for Christmas.
At the moment James is resting a lot and doing his five-minute walks— aiming for four times a day. There are moments he still feels as if ‘hit by a truck’. So there’s a long road back.
We’re both incredibly grateful that we were able to go ahead with this process, and we want to say once again how much we’ve appreciated all the support along the way.
When we reached home I had a huge bouquet delivered — for a twofold purpose: to celebrate James’s bravery and good fortune, and as always, to remember David.
Signing off now,
Love,
Joan-Dianne
